Check it out

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share with you some things I have been learning and God has been showing me.  It is my hope that it will be beneficial to all of you.  Please know, that I am merely sharing things and I would hope that you would all do further research before deciding anything.  I am certainly not the authority on the subject.  However, what I have been reading has been astounding and life changing for me.  I feel it is my job to pass along what I find.  I do love and care about you all so I really do hope you find this useful.  If not, and you think it is all crazy.  That is perfectly fine and I understand, really! :)  If you do find this beneficial or you think it would be good for someone else to hear about, please e-mail this to others.

Mike and I recently found out his cat has terminal cancer and only a couple of months to live.  This was pretty devastating to both of us.  However, we decided not to accept that our only option was to watch her die.  So we have been doing a lot of research on how to help her holistically.  Mike has had a lot of exposure to some of these things in the past, and used to see a nutritional medicine doctor.  So we changed her whole diet in order to help her as much as possible.  We had found a lot of info and found that animals and humans have been cured from terminal diseases in the past.  Quite a few actually...

Through researching for our cat, I have found out a lot about the human body and the ways we are basically destroying our bodies by what we eat.

I have a book I have been reading by Dr. Johanna Budwig called Flax Oil as a True Aid Against Arthritis, Heart Infarction, Cancer and other Diseases.  This is not just a book about how to help with diseases, but more about why the way we are eating is causing diseases, obesity, behavior problems, psychological problems, low energy, ailments, etc.  The book is actually a series of lectures that Dr. Budwig gave in the 1950's that have been translated into English.  The book is not long at all and is VERY much worth the read.  You can get it on Amazon for about $6.95 plus shipping or even cheaper if you get a used version.

You really need to read the book... but, to give you a bit of an idea... She basically talks about the different fats we eat saturated/unsaturated... most fats eat in the present time are saturated.  The only good fats (unsaturated fats) are things like flaxseed, almond, sunflower and a couple others she listed in the book.  Olive oil is not bad for the body and is also not beneficial.  So I use it to cook with as the other good oils cannot be used in for cooking.  She explains the body's functions and how the saturated fats and preservatives in our foods are basically oxidized and so instead of working with the body, the oxidation is blocked and cannot give our cells the oxygen they need.  I am awful at explaining these things, and you really just need to read what she says... but what she explains is that all of the essential functions of the body and our blood are blocked because of these foreign chemicals and oxidized oils.

I just ordered her cookbook, The Oil Protein Diet Cookbook.  I have not gotten it yet, but can let you know more about it when I do for those of you interested.  From what I have read from other people, this book is far more than a cookbook, it is a guide as to how we should be eating and taking care of our bodies.

I have also been reading about The Raw Diet.  Now, I do not so much go for the whole eating only 100% raw foods.. which is mostly fruits and veggies and I believe nuts and beans.  However, I do believe the idea that at least 75% of the food you eat should be raw food is probably not as crazy as it seems.  I think about how when God created the world (For those of you who are not believers I think you can still apply what I am getting at here), He gave us fruits, veggies (and I think nuts and berries).  That seemed to be sufficient.  Then after The Fall, He gave us the animals for food and for us to care for.  So I do believe meat can be parts of our diet and has good things, but MUST be organic meat as the meat now a days is full of antibiotics which is awful for us to be taking in (there are many other reasons which I encourage you to research further.  For example, what the animals in slaughter houses are being fed.  They do not get fed the food they are intended to eat, but are usually fed the ground up meat of the other animals in the slaughter house that died.  So they basically are eating themselves.  Ew and bad!  Those animals dying in the slaughter houses my very well have died from diseases).

I am not sure I believe out bodies were made to live on a bunch of cooked carbs, and even cooked fruits and veggies.  When you cook food (especially produce) it looses 85% of its nutrients.

Another book I ordered is The Live Food Factor and it also explains the body's functions and why it is imperative that the body is getting the daily nutrients and enzymes it needs.  I am going to read both books and try and implement a little of both trains of thought (although, I do think they are fairly similar).  Dr. Johanna Budwig I think leans on the importance of oils and protein while Live Food enthusiasts lean more on the enzymes.  I think both are as important as the other.

Dr. Budwig says to use flax oil and blend with Low Fat Organic Cottage Cheese (until emulsified).  Once emulsified to where you cannot see the oil anymore... the oil is apparently now water soluble.  This means that instead of the body processing the oil as a fat; it processes it as a liquid.  Here is something I found to explain what is happening here and the benefits:

First you must understand what an 'emulsion' is. There are 2 varieties:

1) oil in water emulsion
2) water in oil emulsion.

The [flax seed oil cottage cheese combination] FO/CC is an example of the first type. This is where an oily substance (FO) is incorporated into a larger amount of a watery (or 'hydrophilic') vehicle [CC]. The product formed has the oil 'in tact' but retains the physical properties of the watery carrier, i.e. it is water-soluble and can be carried in a watery environment (blood stream) - this is how things like cholesterol are moved along in the blood stream - cholesterol is bound to water-soluble carrier proteins-LDL or HDL or Lipoprotein-A -it can't be "in the blood by itself" – The same thing with FO or any other oil for that matter.

Therefore, when we ingest oils, they must be emulsified before they can enter the blood stream. The body does this by secreting bile salts or acids which allow the oily "stuff" to be mixable with the watery contents in the intestine (these homogeneous mixtures or partially digested foodstuffs are called 'chyme'). Now, digestive enzymes (lipases) can work on the emulsified oils and break them down into triglycerides and free fatty acids which can be absorbed through the intestinal wall.

When we make our emulsion [blending flax seed oil and cottage cheese in the correct 1:2 ratio] we do a couple of important things:

1) we protect the peptide bonds between the individuals amino acids that make up the proteins in the CC. A peptide bond is relatively weak and an acidic environment - like the stomach - will cleave these apart. Plus, we have strong proteolytic enzymes in the stomach too, pepsin and some others, this is why we can't take "protein-drugs", like insulin, orally - they will be digested in the stomach. …... So by protecting these proteins from digestion, via the emulsification process, we have in essence created a [symplex] 'new foodstuff'.

2) once in the intestine this FO/CC [symplex] doesn't get digested like one would expect oils to. The bonding sites for the bile acids are "tied-up" with the sulfhydral groups of the CC protein, and because this [symplex] is already water-soluble, it can be absorbed, as is, [directly] across the intestinal wall.

What we have done is in fact pretty amazing: we have gotten an 'in tact' oil, with all its precious electrons and double bonds "unmolested" into the bloodstream. Now the FO [omega-3 EFA] can enter into the cell membranes (after special enzymes cleave off the sulfhydral groups), displace the bad oils (or pseudo-fats as Dr. Budwig calls them) and set-up a properly functioning membrane that "sucks" oxygen into the cells (among other things).

The last line is most important in regard to the body running properly and protecting itself against disease.  The bodies cells MUST have oxygen, and as I said before, the saturated fats and preservatives in almost ALL non organic (and be careful, in some organic) foods block the exchange of oxygen into the cells.  Did you know that the cause of all cancers is one or more cells are deprived of 60% of their oxygen?  It only takes one cell being deprived to cause cancer.  Please also be aware that this is not just a result of what we eat, but also the toxins we take in (outside fumes, hairsprays, make up, shampoo, toothpaste, mouthwash, CLEANERS, etc).  The cleaners and fumes are the biggies.  I am thinking about going all organic in regard to cosmetic and toiletries.  I know this is a huge life change, but I never realized how unbelievably important it is.  It is not about all things in moderation.  I knew a lot of DIET/NONFAT/NO SUGAR foods had cancer causing ingredients, but I thought all things in moderation cannot hurt.  THEY CAN and likely will hurt.  God could not be speaking to me any louder about it, and I really have it on my heart to share this with others and urge them to please please please read some of these books.  Consider that our bodies are all we have and we need to take care of them.  Parents are not only responsible for their bodies but their child's bodies as well.  Don't take my word alone on this but research the materials and really take time to consider how you want to care for your body from here on out.  Please also know that I respect whatever all of you do and in know way think I am the authority here.  I just feel led to share.

This is not just about cancer.. it is about other diseases as well.  I really believe all of the disease we have in our society is because of how poorly we are taught to take care of our bodies.  Here is another short explanation I found:

As part of their normal function, cells make toxic molecules called free radicals. A free radical is a damaged molecule - that is, it is missing an electron. Because the free radical wants its full complement of electrons, it reacts with other molecules and in so doing, steals an electron from them. This leads to damage to cells which may in turn lead to serious chronic diseases. The symplex emulsion (the flax oil/cottage cheese emulsified), plays a role by donating electrons to stabilize and, in effect, neutralize the harmful effects of the free radicals.

This is serious stuff.  If you read the books I mentioned, you will find that it is far from just obesity or even cancer being caused.  Other things we as people endure are causes of our diet as well; Lymes Disease (which apparently is quite treatable and curable holistically, even the worst cases) being underweight (changing diet can help people gain the weight they need as well, and has been proven to do so), back and neck pain, arthritis (most disease or ailments we may have), lack of energy, Anemia.  Also, behavioral issues (Dr. Budwig was able to help many children with behavioral problems), intelligence and memory (how are our minds supposed to work properly if we are not giving our body what it needs to help our brain function as they were meant to?).  Another huge thing is in regard to depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts.  Many people with psychological problems have been helped and many cured by drastically changing their diet.  Oh, and I have also found Thyroid conditions are not just treatable, but curable as well, AGAIN, by drastic change in diet.  People were first able to cut their medication in half and then were eventually able to get off of it all together.  Diabetes... also curable

It is also important to consider that medication (even over the counter) is just as bad for us.  Now, by all means if it is something you are already on... you need to be weaned of it.  But, most people did not see the best results until eliminating the medication they took. Medication has a lot of foreign chemicals that harm the body and do not help it function properly.  Do the things needed to help your body function as it was meant to, and I think you will find that it will take care of you. You can certainly supplement you diet with herbs and teas (as Yes, they really do work if you are putting all the other right things in the body to help them work) if you have certain conditions or specific things to treat, like anxiety, etc.  It is also important to note that I have read from people that once they get off track on their diet and go back to eating the same old foods that all of their previous symptoms return.  So, I think that is clear proof as to why we are suffering these things.  PLEASE ALSO NOTE:  I am in no way an expert or a doctor so do not stop taking medication because of what I am saying.  Please read and research and do what you find it best for you and listen to what God is speaking to you.  If you have the means, going to see a nutritional medicine doctor would be a wonderful idea.  Especially if you are suffering from a terminal disease or anything that is really affecting your life and health.  Mike used to see Dr. Ahmad Shamim, M.D.  (301) 776-3700 / (410)-792-0333.  He does not just treat an illness, but helps you figure out why it came about in the first place and he starts from there.  He is wonderful, and if you have the need and the means, he is probably the best person in the area to see.

Think about this... God made our bodies to last a long time (in the past our bodies were created to last hundreds of years) and we are born with the same bodies as Adam and Eve had and they lived a very long time.  Our bodies are made to fight things like disease/ailments/viruses.  I really do not think people would have made it in the past, with all of the hard manual work they did all day, to live for the 300-700 years they lived if they treated their bodies as we do today.  Even things like back and neck injuries have been relieved and have gone away.  I do not think there is really anything out there that our body cannot at least put up a really really good fight against.  So many people have been cured (well not cured like some magic) of diseases, ailments, psychological problems.  By helping our bodies function as they should we save ourselves from so much.  I find from the people that have done so, that they are able to experience so much joy and anger, fear, anxiety are not all so prevalent anymore.  Of course we will still have things to deal with.. it is not some magic, as I said.  But, I also do not believe we are meant to be dealing with anger, fear, and anxiety in such strong doses to the point of suicide in many people.  These are things our body is meant to help us with.  Not to help it not be there at all, but to help us endure.

Is it going to involve sacrifice? Yes.  Will it be more expensive? Yes.  Do our mind, spirit, and bodies matter enough for us to sacrifice?  Well, that is up to you... but for me.. Definitely YES.  I have no job yet, and therefore no money, and we have been putting everything on credit.  But, I believe this is what God is instructing me to do and I am attempting to do it as well as possible.  I have yet to change my cosmetics and all toiletries over... but that will all happen eventually.  Right now, I am quite concerned with what I am putting in my body.  It is not about losing weight for me anymore.  It is about staying healthy in mind, body, and spirit.  Helping myself live a long and HEALTHY life.  I care so much about my friends, family, and people I don't even know.  Please read these and other books.  Please take care of yourselves... I want to say for me because it is why I am asking, but, do it for yourselves because that makes the sacrifice easy.

Here are some tips and things Mike and I have been doing:

Wheatgrass Wheatgrass Wheatgrass:  It has some of the best enzymes out there to help the body.  I know of all the grasses it is the best by far.  This can just be eaten or it can be juiced or you can get the powder (Green Magma).  They were some how able to extract the nutrients and enzymes and keep them intact and put them in powder form.   The Green Magma is really quite expensive.  You can always buy the wheatgrass (most health food stores will sell it in one pound bags).. or the most cost effective way is to just buy the kit to plant your own.  It is apparently very easy to keep alive even if you do not have a green thumb.

Enzymes Enzymes Enzymes:  Okay, as I said (the start up is expensive) but a juicer is a good thing to have.  Also, I know some of you are quite good at bargain shopping and could find a good deal.  Juice some veggies and drink about 8 oz everyday.  Carrots are a good thing to always put in as they add good body and flavor.  Mike and I have been doing carrots (3), fresh spinach (about 4-5 large pieces.  Or 1/2 cup leaves), and green apples (1 is all it needs).  Believe it or not, it is delicious.  But, make sure the apples are granny smith apples or something tart as the carrots are sweet and it seems to need the tart factor.  We tried it with Fuji apples and it was not nearly as good.  Also, it is important to keep it mostly veggie as that is where the enzymes are coming from.  The apple, no doubt, is good for you, but is mostly for the flavor.  If you cook your veggies it really won't do a lot of good as you lose 85% of the nutrients.  That does not mean it is bad for you... it just does not necessarily contribute to helping the body either.

Consider trying to eat 75% uncooked food:  That does NOT mean raw meat!  Ew!  Raw fruits, veggies, nuts, berries.  There are many other things too, but the books will contain that information and there are a lot of recipes out there.  Believe it or not, you do not find yourself to be that hungry after a few days.  I am starting to much prefer those things.  And they all taster far better than they used to.

Low Fat Organic Cottage Cheese/Flax Oil Blend:  Check out Dr. Budwig's book and cookbook.  Be aware that the oil is better for you emulsified with the cottage cheese mixture (the combination of the Omega 3 and Omega 6 oils is essential/ and the water soluble factor is also essential).   The appropriate mixture is 1 part oil and 2-3 parts cottage cheese.  For people that are sick (especially with cancer) they are to have 3 tbsps of the oil so that means 3 tbsps oil and 6-9 tbsps cottage cheese blended.  I believe it is fine for others to have that much as well, but I think 1 tbsp oil to 2-3 tbsps cottage cheese per day is enough.  But, read the books!  I am not positive.

Sprouts!  The sprout of a plant actually contains all of its nutrients and enzymes and is the best and easiest way to ingest it.  Some people grow their own plants and eat the sprouts as they come up.  Or you can buy them...

Almonds and Asparagus:  Excellent cancer preventatives and also good to help fight it if cancer is already present.  The almonds can be eaten whole and it is recommended 6 per day per person.  Or you can get Almond Butter which is my favorite but not the Roasted you need the Raw (but it is pricey).  I love eating it with apples.  It is okay to get canned asparagus from what I have read, just try and get it from the health food store so you know it is clean.

Sunlight:  Get lots of sunlight.  It is not all bad for us like we are told.  As a matter of fact, it is necessary.  Dr. Budwig talks about this is her book Flax Oil as a True Aid Against.... so check it out for yourself.  I think it also may be discussed in the Live Food Factor book.

Exercise:  This, of course, is always important.  We were not made to sit around all day.  Mike and I just got bikes and will be riding as much as possible.

Water:  Always essential to the body and this does not mean other liquids.  The body NEEDS water.

Here are some links as well (these just have good information; I do not necessarily believe everything on each site.  Most Raw Food links are vegan or vegetarians.  I do not believe meat is bad, but that is my opinion.  There are also some people on some of these sites that only eat fruit.  I do not think that is the best thing for the body either.  Just check out all the information and the books and figure out what you think and what is being spoken to you):

Good Health and Eating Links (these are mostly all raw food sites, so in order to find out more about the Dr. Budwig/oil-protein side of things you will need to read her books.  FYI- her books are not at books stores or libraries.  You will likely need to get them on-line):

Okay, I think that is all I have to say about that.  Thank you all so much for taking the time to read this.  I really just wanted to share these things with you as I felt it would be a crime not to and I care about all of you.  Please, if you wish, let me know what you think about this stuff.  If you read the books or sites, tell me your opinion.  If you decide to implement some of these things tell me how it goes.  And by all means, if you have more info or enlightening things to share with me I would love to hear them.  If you think this is all crazy, that is okay too.  I might have said the same thing a while ago.  But now, I can't get away from the evidence and the fact that God seems to be hitting me over the head with all of it.

I am sure Mike may have more to say about this and he may add to my e-mail if he feels the need.

I love you all and wish you the best no matter what you do!  My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Love,

Cortney

Wow

Hey I finally remembered my password and now I can get back on Xanga.  Yay.

I am living in Florida now.  I am still looking for a job and hope to find one very soon so that I can then apply for a waitressing job as well.

Meanwhile I have been trying to unpack the house and I watched rewatched seasons 5-7 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and I just read the 7th Harry Potter book for the second time.  I have no clue how she did such an amazing job, but I loved it!

The End for now.
